Chicago Neighbors United (a non-profit organization) has always placed a
great emphasis on empowering the citizens of the 27th Ward. Therefore,
we are pleased to announce the 6th year of “The 27th Ward Millennium
Scholarship Initiative.”
These scholarships are intended to supplement other financial assistance
and are awarded to high school seniors who wish to further their
educational endeavors. The requirements for eligibility are as
follows:
1) Must be a legal resident of the 27th Ward at the time of
submission (proof of residency must be submitted).
2) Must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5 on a
4.0 scale (a copy of the official transcript must be submitted).
3) Must be accepted in accredited college or university (acceptance
letter or registration forms must be submitted).
4) Must return nominee application along with other requirements.
5) Must submit proof of community service hours
6) Please submit an essay for the following question. (please
answer in 500 words or less, you may attach additional sheets if
needed).
Essay Question: Where do you see yourself in 10 years and what are you
doing everyday to help you move closer toward that goal?
All completed applications must be submitted no later than August 18,
2007. If you are uncertain whether the student lives in the 27th Ward,
please forward a list of all graduating seniors with a GPA of 2.5 or
above and our committee will review them for residency.
